Backyard renovation ideas for fall

With fall coming in and summer on its way out, it is easy to begin moving indoors. The last thing we are thinking about is a backyard renovation. But, there are still so many beautiful evenings and sunsets to enjoy. Whether it is reading a book under a blanket or having a glass of wine with friends, you should enjoy your outdoor space a bit longer. So instead of going into winter mode, we found backyard renovation ideas to prolong the season just a bit longer.

Patio remodels to heat up the backyard

Adding a heat element to your outdoor space can be exactly what you need on those cooler fall evenings. Adding a fire pit to enjoy roasting marshmallows is a great way to enjoy those cooler nights. Invite friends over for a bonfire and keep the gatherings going into fall!

If you have a covered patio then consider adding an outdoor fireplace or patio heater. Both will heat your outdoor space without having an open flame. Just make sure to confirm the area the heating element will cover so you ensure your entire outdoor space will be cozy and warm.

Another great way to keep warm all fall is by adding throws and blankets over your furniture to use on the cooler nights. Then once it is finally time to come in for winter you can use them inside as well!

Upgrade your outdoor lighting

As we head into fall the sun sets a lot sooner, naturally this would be the time for us to head inside for the night. But, with a simple backyard remodel of our outdoor lighting, we can stay well into the night outdoors.

Hang string lights along your pergola, fence or patio for a nice soft glow. Install pathway lights or upgrade your wall lights to be a bit brighter.

Also, an easy way to ensure your lights come on before darkness settles in is by setting your outdoor lights on a timer. Timers are easy to use and can be adjusted for transitioning into fall. Using LED lights or solar lights can help keep costs low as you have lighting on longer in the fall evenings.

Close the pool and open the hot tub

Everyone knows Labor Day is the time to close down your outdoor pool to get ready for the cooler temps. But, that is also the perfect time to open the hot tub.

A hot tub or spa is great to use all year, but there is nothing better on a cool night than getting into the warmth of a spa to relax. Hot tubs no longer have to be a huge expense, there are so many varieties out there to choose from that anyone can own one! And what a way to relax and soothe sore muscles after raking all the fall leaves then in the warmth of a hot tub. So kick back and relax and watch all the stars come out.

Final thoughts….

Just because the cooler temperatures are arriving does not mean that we have to let it chase us inside. Get out and enjoy the fall. The leaves are beautiful, the nights are more clear to see the stars and the time is perfect to make memories. If you decide you don't want to take on a project yourself such as upgrading your lighting or setting up your hot tub and would rather hire a professional handyman for the job, call us, we are happy to help!
